Attorney General Jeff Landry Highlights National Consumer Protection Week

Louisiana joins national campaign to empower consumers

BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry this month will join businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies nationwide to celebrate National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW). This coordinated, educational campaign encourages consumers to take full advantage of their rights and educate themselves on how to be better protected in the marketplace.

“My office and I work hard to provide useful consumer resources and outreach opportunities to Louisiana residents and businesses in an effort to empower citizens and combat fraud,” said General Landry. “We will continue to do so as education is always the first line of defense for making smarter decisions about managing money, using credit, and building a strong financial foundation for the future.”

In recognition of NCPW – General Landry will host a series of events, including the LifeSmarts Ultimate Consumer Challenge Competition for high school students on Friday, March 9 in Baton Rouge. LifeSmarts, a quiz bowl competition established by the National Consumers League, develops consumer knowledge and skills in high school students in a fun and competitive way. Representatives from General Landry’s office will also provide consumer education information throughout Louisiana to help protect our State’s consumers against fraud.
