BATON ROUGE, LA – The Attorney General’s Office is leading a Louisiana
Cemetery Task Force Meeting tomorrow in Lake Charles to assist those who have
loved ones buried in cemeteries damaged by hurricanes this year.
“During this historic hurricane season, my office has not wavered in our commitment to assist storm victims – including those whose loved ones’ tombstones, caskets, vaults, and remains were damaged or displaced,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “I encourage anyone impacted to attend Thursday’s meeting so we can help properly and respectfully take care of their deceased loved ones.”
Those planning to attend should register in advance for “funeral assistance” by calling FEMA at 800-621-3362, visiting www.disasterassistance.gov, or using the FEMAMobile App. Officials from FEMA will be in attendance at the meeting to assist with the paperwork required for the reburial and repair of graves damaged by Hurricanes Laura or Delta.
